Everyone wants healthy, radiant skin that glows. There are a number of factors that may prevent your skin from glowing – from a buildup of dead skin cells to a lack of proper hydration.
The good news is that it’s not too hard to get glowing skin overnight with the right skincare routine and products. Try these 7 steps for glowing skin when you feel your skin looks and feels dull, so you can wake up to beautiful, radiant skin.
How To Get Glowing Skin Overnight
1. Cleanse and Remove Your Makeup
Failing to cleanse your face enough will lead to a buildup of dead skin cells and dirt on your skin’s surface. Over time this will clog your pores, and lead to dull skin or even acne. If you want brighter, more glowing skin, make sure to cleanse your face at the end of every day and remove any makeup you may be wearing.
2. Exfoliate Your Skin
Over time dead skin cells will build up on your skin’s surface, even with proper cleansing. It’s important to remove these cells with an exfoliant to reveal younger, more radiant skin underneath. Don’t scrub your skin more than twice a week though, as this can cause dryness and irritation.
You can also try chemical exfoliants, which are much gentler on the skin than physical exfoliants. This is exciting because you can use them every day, so you can continually exfoliate your skin without irritation. We’ll touch further on chemical exfoliants in the next section of the article.
3. Use a Toner
Tonics have come a long way over the past few years. They used to be alcohol based solutions that would dry out your skin and be deemed unnecessary by most, but modern tonics are gentle, hydrating, and a great addition to your skincare routine.
The Pixi Glow Tonic in particular is a fantastic option if you want glowing skin overnight. It contains glycolic acid, which is a chemical exfoliant that helps dissolve dead skin cells and reveal glowing skin below. Despite its slightly scary name, glycolic acid is much gentler than typical exfoliants and can be used once or twice a day, even on sensitive skin.
4. Use a Night Cream
The evening is the best time to use heavy duty moisturisers that you can’t get away with using in the morning. It’ll give your skin enough time to soak in anything you put on it, compared to in the morning when you want your moisturisers to dry as soon as possible.
Moisturising your skin regularly will keep it healthy and hydrated, so it’s important you don’t skip this step if you want glowing skin. I like to keep it simple with a night cream from Nivea, but use whatever moisturiser works best with your skin type.
5. Use a Sheet Mask
Sheet masks are a great way to get a little boost of hydration before you sleep. Doing a sheet mask can also help you relax and take some time to yourself at the end of a long day, making it the perfect addition to your evening skincare routine.
6. Drink a Glass of Water Before You Sleep
Proper hydration is one of the most important steps to glowing skin. Your skin will start to show signs of dehydration before you even realise you’re thirsty, so make sure you drink enough water throughout the day and have a glass of water before you go to bed. It’s also a good idea to keep a glass of water next to you while you sleep in case you wake up in the middle of the night.
7. Change Your Pillowcase
Your pillowcase can be home to dirt and bacteria, so make sure to change it as often as possible. This should ideally be every one or two days, but if this isn’t sustainable for you then try to stick to once a week.
