My posts may contain affiliate links, meaning if you buy something through one of these links, I'll earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. All opinions are my own.

When you think of passive income streams, Etsy may not be the first thing you think of. But did you know there are thousands of Etsy sellers making entirely passive income by creating and selling digital products?

How Can You Make Passive Income with Digital Products on Etsy?

It’s incredibly easy to make passive income on Etsy by selling digital products. You just have to create the product, upload the files as a listing, and Etsy will take care of the rest for you.

Every time someone buys your product, Etsy will send them a link to download the files, so you don’t even have to send the customer anything yourself. And if you set your listings to auto-renew, they will just keep on selling automatically. You literally don’t have to do anything.

Digital products also have a higher profit margin than physical products. Since you don’t need to spend anything on physical materials or shipping, you can afford to offer very competitive prices – which means more sales.

How Much Work is Required to Be Successful Selling Digital Products on Etsy?

As with any other passive income stream, there’s quite a lot of upfront effort required. Creating the products themselves can be quite time consuming, and then you need to create an eye catching thumbnail and upload the listing to Etsy. You can also choose to hire a freelancer to design your products for you if design isn’t your strong point.

You should also put some work into your descriptions and SEO so that your products have the best chance to appear in Etsy search. But once you’ve uploaded the listing, you can just forget about it.

Choosing Your Niche

There’s a lot of tough competition on Etsy, due to the fact that it’s so easy to upload a listing and start making money. Choosing a niche for your products will make it much easier to get your business started, as your customers will know exactly what they’re getting when they come to your store.

Some good niches to consider are printable art and quotes, bullet journaling and organization, resources for business owners, and educational content for kids. You’ll probably also come up with some of your own ideas as you read through this list of 25 digital products to sell on Etsy for inspiration.
