Self care is important all year round, but as the days get shorter and the weather becomes colder, taking care of your mental health becomes even more vital.
It’s totally natural for your mood to dip a little as we move into fall. From an evolutionary standpoint, our ancestors spent the autumn months preparing to survive a harsh winter, so it’s normal if you’re feeling more anxious than usual.
Today I’m sharing 10 cozy self care ideas for fall. All these ideas are simple and easy, but hopefully they’ll inspire you to spend a little time looking after yourself this evening.

10 Cozy Self Care Ideas for Fall
1. Take Vitamin D Supplements Daily
As natural light becomes more and more scarce, you may not be getting enough vitamin D from sunlight. Vitamin D is known to have a positive effect on your mental health, so getting enough of it is a great way to practise self care this fall.
Remembering to take vitamins every day can be difficult, so try setting a reminder on your phone if it helps you out.
2. Make yourself a Chai Latte
Chai lattes are the perfect drink for fall. They’re warm, slightly spiced, and so cozy.
You can make your latte from scratch using spices you have at home, but I also love the Drink Me Spiced Chai which I buy in bulk from Amazon. It’s not as healthy as making it at home, but it tastes incredible.
If chai lattes aren’t your thing then try going for a turmeric latte or a hot chocolate. Drinking any hot drink will get you in a cozy mood, and is a great way to practise self care this fall.
3. Put on Some Cozy Socks
Fall is officially cozy socks season! Pull on your fluffiest socks to stay cozy all day.

4. Try a Weighted Blanket
Weighted blankets are fantastic for easing anxiety, but they can be too hot and sweaty to use during the summer months.
Weighted blankets weigh between 7-10kg, and are known to feel like a warm hug. So if you’re in need of a little extra comfort this fall, try out this queen sized weighted blanket on Amazon.
5. Take a Hot Bath
As the weather begins to cool down, I love switching out my refreshing showers for hot baths. If you’re lucky enough to have a bathtub, take advantage of this and run yourself a cozy bubble bath this evening.
6. Look After Your Skin
As the weather gets harsher, your skin may become drier. Try switching out your lightweight moisturizer for something more hydrating. I like Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost cream since it’s super hydrating but not too sticky.
If your skin is particularly dry you can also invest in some skin therapy oil for extra hydration.
7. Carve a Pumpkin
No matter how old you are, carving a pumpkin is always a fun way to spend a few hours.

8. Wake up Naturally
As sunrise becomes later, mornings become harder to deal with. Waking up while it’s still dark is awful, but thankfully there are some ways to make it easier.
Try investing in a light alarm to help you wake up naturally each morning. I suggest the Philips SmartSleep alarm on Amazon for a natural feeling sunrise, but there are cheaper options that get the job done too.
9. Cook a Hearty Meal
As the weather gets colder it’s normal to start craving more hearty meals. Why don’t you spend an evening cooking up a filling, hearty meal? You could try a casserole, a pasta bake or a vegetable soup.
10. Light a Fall Scented Candle
There’s nothing better than lighting a fall scented candle to get you in a good mood for autumn. Your local home store will likely have seasonal candles in stock, or you could also try my favorite scent for fall, apple pumpkin by Yankee.

omg YES TO VITAMIN D! I was actually thinking about buying them yesterday, but forgot which vitamin it was exactly. You just reminded me to buy some. Thanks so much! And I’m completely obsessed with my fresh apple candles. I honestly light them all year round because they just relax me so much. Great post full of great ideas! xxx
